摘要: Diabetes mellitus (DM), and its micro macrovascular complications, is one of the biggest challenges for world public health. Despite overall improvement in prevention, diagnosis treatment, incidence expected to continue increasing over next years. Nowadays, finding therapies prevent or retard progression diabetic complications remains an unmet need due complexity mechanisms involved, which include inflammation, oxidative stress angiogenesis, among others. Flavonoids are natural antioxidant compounds that have been shown possess anti-diabetic properties. Moreover, scientific evidence has demonstrated their potential anti-inflammatory anti-oxidant effects. Consequently, use these as drugs generated growing interest, reflected numerous vitro vivo studies related this field. Therefore, aim review assess recent pre-clinical clinical research about effect flavonoids amelioration complications. In brief, we provide updated information concerning discrepancy between experimental supporting efficacy on lack appropriate well-designed trials. Due well-described beneficial effects different involved excellent tolerability low cost, future randomized controlled with adequate bioavailability should be evaluated add-on therapy well-established drugs.
