摘要: OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the associations between leptinemia and components of metabolic syndrome (MetS). METHODS: Fifty-one obese adults (9 men; 36.7 ± 10.0 years; body mass index (BMI) 46.2 kg/m2) were submitted to clinical examination, determinations fat (BF, bioimpedance) resting energy expenditure (REE, indirect calorimetry), hormonal biochemical analysis. Patients categorized into three groups, according number criteria for MetS: Group I: none or 1; II: 2; III: 3 4 criteria. RESULTS: Absolute (LepA; 37.5 16.9 ng/mL) was directly correlated with BMI (r = 0.48; p 0.0004), waist circumference 0.31; 0.028) BF 0.52; 0.0001). Leptinemia adjusted (LepBF) inversely weight -0.41; p=0.027), REE -0.34; 0.01) MetS -0.32; 0.02). There no difference in LepA among groups. LepBF III (0.58 0.27 ng/mL/kg) significantly lower compared I (0.81 0.22 ng/mL/kg; 0.03) II (0.79 0.30 CONCLUSIONS: Leptin production by adipose tissue is decreased subjects fulfilling more MetS, suggesting a state relative leptin deficiency obesity associated advanced stages MetS.
