摘要: BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma is the commonest primary malignant bone tumor in children. The treatment involves extensive and sometimes life threatening chemotherapy mutilating surgery. study of cell proliferation by Ki67 immunohistochemistry has been extensively analyzed different cancers as a prognostic marker but little information available field osteosarcoma. purpose this was to evaluate expression activity histological types grades osteosarcoma whether higher Ki-67 can predict clinical outcome. METHODS: conducted with 30 patients There were 19 boys 11girls. mean age 12.8 yrs. We received specimens incisional biopsy suspected lesions. All treated similarly following diagnosis (chemotherapy, definitive surgery followed chemotherapy) they up for 24 months from date diagnosis. Histological type grade determined examining Hematoxylin Eosin stained slides. Proliferative (Ki67 expression) measured immunohistochemically using MIB-1 antibody. Proliferation quantitated counting number immunopositive nuclei, detected manually under light microscope. index evaluated relation survival. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: found 12 cases low 18 high osteosarcomas. LI seen 9.9 whereas 21.6. A significant positive correlation between observed osteosarcomas (p <0.001). no statistically Ki67LI histologic all
