摘要: We have analyzed ice‐rafted debris (IRD) from the South Atlantic Ocean (∼43°S, 9°E) in order to investigate Antarctic Ice Sheet history during late Pleistocene; cores examined for this study include piston core TN057‐6‐PC4 and Drilling Program Leg 177 drill Site 1090 (177‐1090). Over last 500 ka at distal location, IRD arrived both glacials interglacials. is present even warmer intervals, greatest colder absent only terminations a few other brief intervals. Four different methods are used normalize counts, which then compared support our interpretation. Several high‐quality climate proxies location also aid interpretations. conclude that sea surface temperatures primary control on delivery of site. During cold times more icebergs survived reach location. warm largest could travel far. Garnets found these sediments suggest likely East origin IRD; presence garnets intervals further strongly supports iceberg source must be (EAIS). Therefore, EAIS continued ocean least some part its margin throughout ka. On hand, we cannot specifically trace any West (WAIS), so WAIS persistence tested. A particular radiolarian, identified as Dictyocoryne profunda (Ehrenberg) (sensu Boltovskoy (1998)), shows up size fraction generally phases. D. sensitive indicator water it deserves study.
