摘要: Abstract Angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy has been applied to investigate the Shockley-type surface state on (111) of α -brass, a Cu–Zn alloy with face-centered cubic structure. An energy position and an effective mass Shockley-state band are determined, respectively, be 0.51 eV 0.52 m e being rest electron. A decay length wave function into bulk is also estimated 0.43 nm. These parameters compared those Shockley Cu(111), it concluded that Cu sp orbitals in -brass have more isolated nature than Cu. Also examined this study response oxygen adsorption. The behavior upon adsorption strongly depends substrate temperature. At room temperature, quenched along binding-energy shift towards Fermi level. Contrastingly, at low temperatures (≤ 180 K) hardly affects state. conversion oxidation process certain temperature between 180 K proposed.
