摘要: The loss of livestock to wild predators is an important livelihood concern among Trans-Himalayan pastoralists. Because the remoteness and inaccessibility region, few studies have been carried out quantify depredation by predators. In present study, we assessed intensity snow leopard Uncia uncia, Tibetan wolf Canis lupus chanku, Eurasian lynx Lynx l. isabellina in three villages, namely Gya, Rumtse, Sasoma, within proposed Gya-Miru Wildlife Sanctuary Ladakh, India. villages reported losses 295 animals these carnivores during a period 2.5 years ending early 2003, which represents annual rate 2.9% their holdings. was most predator, accounting for 60% total because predation, followed (38%) (2%). Domestic goat major victim (32%), sheep (30%), yak (15%), horse (13%). Wolves killed horses significantly more goats less than would be expected from relative abundance. Snow leopards also expected, whereas they other types proportion combined incurred estimated monetary approximately $USD 12,120 amounting 190/household/y. This relatively high occurred primarily valuable such as horse. Conservation actions should initially attempt target decrease predation on large species.
