摘要: On September 14-15, 2015, a meeting of clinicians and investigators in the fields veterinary human neuro-oncology, clinical trials, neuropathology, drug development was convened at National Institutes Health campus Bethesda, Maryland. This served as inaugural event launching new consortium focused on improving knowledge, of, access to naturally occurring canine brain cancer, specifically glioma, model for disease. Within meeting, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) assessment undertaken critically evaluate role that tumors could have advancing this aspect comparative oncology aimed outcomes dogs beings. A summary subsequent discussion are provided inform scientific community potential initiative. Canine comparisons represent an unprecedented opportunity complement conventional tumor research paradigms, addressing devastating disease which innovative diagnostic treatment strategies clearly needed.
