摘要: Anthocephalus cadamba(Roxb.) Miq, Rubiaceae, is an important Bangladeshi medicinal plant for its traditional uses against different types of diseases. Therefore, the present study investigated potential antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities petroleum ether (pet. ether) chloroform fractions ethanol extract cadamba stem bark. The potentialities were evaluated by disc diffusion method four Grampositive, six Gram-negative bacteria species fungi at a concentration 500 µg/disc.Kanamycin 30 µg/disc was used as standard drug. fraction showed maximum activity almost all bacteria. Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli Pseudomonus aeruginosa better sensitivities to with zone inhibition 24.1, 22.3 22.1 mm respectively while pet. mild sensitivities. Bacillus cereus Klebsiella pneumonia two amongst ten lowest extracts. In case antifungal screening, induced significantzone inhibition16.6, 15.7 13.2 Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans niger. These subjected brine shrimp lethality test evaluate cytotoxicity. LC50values ether, vincristine sulphate 17.78, 15.66 12.02µg/ml respectively. The revealed that extracts bark possess potent along moderate cytotoxicities may lead new drug development.
