A new method to measure energy, direction, and polarization of gamma rays

摘要: Abstract A new method to measure the energy, direction, and polarization of gamma rays in sub-MeV few MeV range is proposed. We found that first Compton scattering gamma-ray energy degrading process can be correctly reconstructed with a high probability if energies positions recoil electrons are recorded 4–10 keV (rms) ∼ 1 × mm 3 for 4–5 steps. If silicon detector stack used, we get an angular resolution about 1° per ray without collimators. have started development work make such device using 2-dimensional strip detectors.
