摘要: Eleven polyhydroxy alkaloids of plant origin were tested for anti-feedant effects against larvae the lepidopteransSpodoptera littoralis, Spodoptera frugiperda, Heliothis virescens, andHelicoverpa armigera. Data from behavioral and electrophysiological investigations correlated to reveal information on mode action antifeedants. The pyrrolidine DMDP was an effective antifeedant all four species, whereas piperidines fagomine XZ-1 pyrrolizidine alexine ineffective as activity pyrrolidines CYB-3 DAB-1, DNJ, DMJ, BR1, bicyclic octahydroindolizine castanospermine varied among species. investigation focuses structural similarities between some common phagostimulatory sugars illustrates a neural interaction involving neurons that are differentially responsive sugars. InS. responding specifically DMDP, fructose, sucrose, glucose more active when compounds applied singly than alkaloid sugar together. implications occurrence functioning different receptor sites discussed.
