摘要: Background: Surgical resection is the most effective treatment for colorectal liver metastases but only a minority of patients are candidates potentially curative resection. Our experience with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by and five years survival analysis treated presented. Methods: Between February 1988 September 1996, 701 unresectable were chemotherapy. Four categories nonresectable disease defined: large size, ill location, multinodularity, extrahepatic disease. Liver was performed in those whose became resectable. After resection, up every 3 months. A 5-year different described performed. Results: Ninety-five (13.5%) found to be resectable on reevaluation underwent There no perioperative mortality, complication rate 23%. As December 1999, 87 have completed 5 follow-up. The overall 35% from time 39% onset Respective rates 60% tumors, 49% ill-located lesions, 34% multinodular disease, 18% In this latter category, however, when all analyzed rather than whom main cause nonresectability. Conclusions: Neoadjuvant enables some initially metastases. Long-term similar that reported priori surgical candidates.
