摘要: Accurate measurements of cloud properties are necessary to document the full range conditions and characteristics. The Cloud, Aerosol Polarization Backscatter Lidar (CAPABL) has been developed address this need by measuring depolarization, particle orientation, backscatter cloudsandaerosols.Thelidar islocated at Summit,Greenland(72.68N, 38.58W; 3200 m MSL), as part Integrated Characterization Energy, Clouds, Atmospheric State, Precipitation Summit Project NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratory’s Global Monitoring Division’s lidar network. Here, instrument is described with particular emphasis placed upon implementation new polarization methods measure orientation improve overall accuracy depolarization measurements. Initial results from also shown demonstrate ability observe properties.
