摘要: It is increasingly clear that some of the effects both free and derivatised long chain fatty acids in pancreatic beta-cells are mediated by a group G-protein coupled receptors. Some these display close structural homology while others more divergent. This Commentary reviews expression functional roles three such molecules, GPR40, GPR119 GPR120. GPR40 best characterised this appears to mediate acute stimulatory on insulin secretion. has also been proposed as potential mediator acid toxicity but controversial. involved stimulation secretion responds primarily ethanolamide derivatives lysophospholipids rather than acids. may represent useful target for development new secretagogues aimed enhance release patients with type 2 diabetes. GPR120 most enigmatic lipid-responsive cell-surface receptors its function remains be established. play cytoprotective role certain other cell types it unclear whether fulfils similar beta-cells.
