To define alterations in subsets of circulating lymphocytes pregnancy the authors compared percentages total T cells helper and suppressor peripheral blood 31 pregnant women at various stages with those nonpregnant controls. Control studies consisted 5 ingesting oral contraceptives (OCs) menstruating spontaneously. Isolated mononuclear were reacted fluoresceinated monoclonal antibodies specific for Leu-2 Leu-3 Leu-4 subsequently analyzed on a fluorescence-activated cell sorter. No variation percentage leu-3 or was observed menstrual cycle contraceptive cycle. differences seen when T-cell gestation corresponding subset The data does not alter blood. (authors modified)
