摘要: Abstract Oxidative potential (OP) of particulate matter (PM) has been proposed as a more health relevant metric than PM mass. However, little is known about the temporal and spatial variation OP, which crucial if OP were to be used an exposure in epidemiological studies. We studied on routinely collected PM2.5 samples (every 6th day) from three regional, five urban background, street sites over one-year period across Netherlands. was measured ability generate hydroxyl radicals presence hydrogen peroxide using electron spin resonance (OPESR). OPESR correlated poorly with mass both spatially (Spearman's rs = 0.29) temporally (median rs = 0.34). The correlations for moderate rs = 0.50) compared rs = 0.87), suggesting that misclassification higher when time series Street/urban background street/regional ratios 1.4 2.4 respectively; (ratio 1.1 street/urban background). This large scale, nationwide study found space time. Spatial contrasts much larger PM2.5, offers possibility use assess long-term effects.
