A return to the basics; nurses’ practices and knowledge about interventional patient hygiene in critical care units

摘要: Abstract Background The Nursing profession is struggling to return basic nursing care maintain patients’ safety. “Interventional patient hygiene” (IPH) a measurement model for reducing the bioburden of both and health worker, its components are hand hygiene, oral care, skin care/antisepsis, catheter site care. Objectives To identify level nurses’ practice knowledge about interventional hygiene barriers implementing in critical units. Methodology A descriptive research design was used three tools were applied this study: “The Interventional Patient Hygiene Observational Checklist”, Knowledge Questionnaire” Barriers Implementing Critical Care Units”. Results mean percentage score higher than all items (hand (71.28 ± 25.46, compared with 46.15 ± 17.87), (100.0 ± 0.0, 25.32 ± 24.25), (75.76 ± 9.40, 8.97 ± 24.14) (47.80 ± 6.79, 26.28 ± 16.57). workload (71.79%), insufficient resources (61.53%), lack (10.25%). Conclusion IPH items. include workload, resources, knowledge/training.
