摘要: Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a type of epithelial plasticity that characterized by long-lasting morphological and molecular changes in cells as result transdifferentiation towards mesenchymal cell type. To detect possible phenotypic transitions human cancer, surgical pathology useful medical discipline, examining or biopsy material at the microscopic ultrastructural level. The expression particular tumor markers evaluated means immunohistochemistry situ hybridization, this could, besides directing to correct diagnosis, substantiate transdifferentiation. Whereas EMT occurs several stages embryonic development can be readily induced (cancer) lines vitro, cancer phenomenon rarely encountered. Carcinosarcoma best studied, which monoclonality both components strongly favors an EMT. A challenging hypothes considers more general event, providing additional survival advantage all types carcinoma. By would transdifferentiate into myofibroblasts lose their malignant phenotype but constitute desmoplastic stroma essential for growth, invasion metastasis.
