摘要: The implantation of biomaterials into the human body has become an indispensable part almost all fields modern medicine. Accordingly, there is increasing need for appropriate approaches, which can be used to evaluate suitability different distinct clinical indications. dorsal skinfold chamber a sophisticated experimental model, been proven extremely valuable systematic in vivo analysis dynamic interaction small biomaterial implants with surrounding host tissue rats, hamsters and mice. By means intravital fluorescence microscopy, this chronic model allows repeated analyses various cellular, molecular microvascular mechanisms, are involved early inflammatory angiogenic response during initial 2-3 weeks after implantation. Therefore, broadly last two decades assess performance prosthetic vascular grafts, metallic implants, surgical meshes, bone substitutes, scaffolds engineering, as well locally or systemically applied drug delivery systems. These studies have contributed identify basic material properties determining biocompatibility ingrowth their surface internal structures. Thus, does not only provide deep insights complex interactions soft tissues but also represents important tool future development novel aiming at optimisation biofunctionality practice.
