摘要: A spontaneous Ipomoea carnea subsp. fistulosa (canudo, algodoeiro) poisoning of cattle in the county Pocone, Brazilian Pantanal, is reported. The investigation began after 12 had died from a flock 500 animals maintained an extensive area intensely infested by I. with scarce availability other fodder plants. deaths occurred June to September 2006. Clinical signs were loss weight and neurological deficits hypermetry incoordination. No significant gross lesions observed at postmortem examination one bovine. Histological changes comprised widespread cytoplasmic vacuolation neurons, cells thyroid, kidney pancreas. Cattle similar clinical picture, that been removed invaded placed into areas native Brachiaria sp. pasture, recovered clinically within 15 days.
