摘要: Purpose: To develop an understanding of the quality life older adults with osteoarthritis (OA) varying levels depression and social supportas a basis for nursing interventions. Osteoarthritis in United States is number one chronic disease late major cause disability adults. In addition to functional economic effect OA, people this experience suffering, depression, diminished life. Design: For cross-sectional survey, convenience sample 50 OA was recruited from two U.S. hospital-based arthritis clinics northern Ohio 3-months during 1995. Methods: During face-to-face interviews, Arthritis Impact Scales, Center Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, Social Support Questionnaire, Quality Life Survey, were used measure severity, informal support, life. Findings: Although few formal support services used, high satisfaction subjects' large networks family friends reported. addition, extremely despite co-morbid conditions, pain, limitation. Conclusions: Social appeared play important role moderating effects limitation, on these life. Nurses who work are unique position help them adjust living by providing needed manage their disease.
