摘要: Abstract We have identified a nucleolytic activity in Escherichia coli infected by bacteriophage T4 that introduces cuts the ribosome binding site of at least two mRNAs. Cutting takes place specifically GGAG sequences are complementary to 3' end 16S rRNA (Shine-Dalgarno sequence). The nature this cut has been investigated reverse transcriptase mapping, anti-mRNA utilization vaccinia virus guanylyltransferase, and labeling polynucleotide kinase. We compared target mRNAs with an mRNA similar sequence but is not substrate for nuclease. This allowed us narrow down possibilities elements determine nuclease recognition. hypothesize plays physiological role inhibition expression class phage proteins.
