Microstructure and magnetostrictive performance of NbC-doped oriented Fe-Ga alloys

摘要: The oriented Fe83Ga17 alloy rods with various NbC contents less than 1at% were prepared by the directional solidification method at a growth rate of 720 mmh−1. Low NbC-content was found to affect grain and slightly improve orientation. Flat boundaries in alloys low 0.2at% became greatly curved higher contents, large amount Nb-rich precipitates observed high contents. Small amounts NbC, 0.2at%, resulted an increase magnetostrictive strain due improvement orientation, value 335 10−6 under pre-stress 15 MPa obtained 0.1at% NbC-doped alloys. performance obviously decreased addition 0.5at%, sensitivity no lower that binary Fe-Ga alloy.
