摘要: Interferons (IFNs) are a group of cytokines exhibiting antiviral, antiproliferative and immunoregulatory properties. The principal stimulus for the synthesis IFNs is presence viral double-stranded RNA, although rare examples constitutive have also been described. aim present study was to determine IFN-α-like biological activity in seminal plasma, follicular amniotic fluid, embryo culture medium, fetal blood obtained from patients without apparent or bacterial infections. Interferon-α-like determined by standard cytopathic effect inhibition bioassay. included two groups patients. first consisted 30 married couples participating programme assisted reproduction second 23 scheduled prenatal diagnosis (15 amniocentesis eight cordocentesis). plasma infertile men (asthenozoospermia, oligoasthenozoospermia) contained high titre antiviral activity. Asthenozoospermia diagnosed with normal sperm concentration but less than 50% progressively motile oligoasthenozoospermia count 1 × 106 mL−1. Despite slightly higher titres asthenozoospermic patients, no clear association between found. found all samples fluid intrauterine growth retardation trisomy 18. Antiviral fluids were significantly compared blood. Embryo medium did not contain Our results demonstrate that relevant reproduction, even absence infection.
