摘要: Taking antipsychotic medication as prescribed is one of the best means patients have managing psychotic symptoms and preventing relapse. Yet, for various reasons, may discontinue taking their or skip doses, either occasionally frequently. Among treated with conventional neuroleptics, approximately 40% stop within 1 year, about 75% 2 years. Although adverse effects play a large role in patient's decision to therapy, other factors also an effect. Using health belief model, clinicians can assess relative impact on adherence. This model posits that adherence treatment determined by assessment perceived benefits risks illness versus costs (including such weight gain). Other are barriers cues act (i.e., reminders take medication). Patients who believe outweigh likely candidates intervention increase
