摘要: Reliable estimates of population parameters are necessary for effective management and conservation actions. The use genetic data capture–recapture (CR) analyses has become an important tool to estimate elusive species. Strong emphasis been placed on the analysis non-invasive samples, or CR analysis; however, little attention paid simultaneous overview full analysis, insights gained by understanding interactions between different parts technique. Here, we review three main steps approach: designing appropriate sampling scheme, conducting lab applying results; present a synthesis this topic with aim discussing primary limitations sources error. We discuss importance integration these steps, unique situations which occur studies, role ecologists geneticists throughout process, problem error propagation, biases can be in final estimates. highlight team collaboration offer series recommendations wildlife who not familiar yet but may want monitor populations through time.
