Serum evaluation of basic FGF in breast cancer patients.

摘要: Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is a potent endothelial cell mitogen found in variety of normal and tumour tissues prognostic relevance human malignancies such as renal carcinoma leukaemia. This study presents the data 104 serum samples 20 patients suffering from breast cancer. Mean levels bFGF these were 13.9 +/- 17.1 (min 0, max 56.4) pg/ml 2.4 5.9 24.7) pg/ml, respectively (p = 0.01). FGF reached sensitivity 61% at specificity 87% when applying cut-off level 5 pg/ml. A continuous increase before clinical detection relapse (lead time) was seen 3 out 8 cases with mean lead time 4 months. Preoperative not value showed no correlation axillary lymph node metastasis. These preliminary results indicate that, cancer patients, soluble may be useful early primary tumours, recurrences monitoring therapy.
