摘要: The activity of the C. elegans gene ced-9 is required to protect cells that normally survive from undergoing programmed cell death. Here we describe cloning and molecular characterization this gene. an element a polycistronic locus also contains cyt-1, which encodes protein similar cytochrome b560 complex II mitochondrial respiratory chain. 280 amino acid showing sequence structural similarities mammalian proto-oncogene bcl-2. Overexpression bcl-2 can mimic protective effect on death prevent ectopic deaths occur in loss-of-function mutants. These results suggest are homologs mechanism has been conserved nematodes mammals.
