摘要: Isoflurane has properties that suggest it may provide cerebral protection from ischemia. This study compared, in primates, neurologic outcome after a 45-min period of temporary focal ischemia during hypotension induced with either isoflurane or sodium nitroprusside (SNP). Fourteen macaque monkeys were studied. Seven animals received halothane and seven anesthesia surgical preparation. After transorbital exposure the middle artery (MCA), group, inspired was reduced to 0.75% mean blood pressure (BP) 50 mmHg by infusion SNP. In titrated reduce BP mmHg. Stable maintained for 90 min, which included MCA occlusion. Monitoring intraarterial pressure, arterial gases, EEG, somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP), temperature. procedure allowed awaken assessed neurologically every 8 h. On third postoperative day, they reanesthetized underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) SEP recording. Thereafter, killed iv KCl brains fixed neuropathology. All survived procedure, but two receiving none died prematurely (P less than 0.2). The disappeared all within 10 min occlusion then returned partially completely. There no difference between groups scores, size lesion as MRI (isoflurane 15.7 +/- 6%, halothane/SNP 10.5 4%), extent severity neuropathologic lesions.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
