摘要: The treatment of cancer has been slowly but steadily progressing during the last fifty years. Some tumors with a high mortality in past are curable nowadays. However, there is one striking exception: glioblastoma multiforme. No real breakthrough hitherto achieved this tumor ominous prognosis and very short survival. Glioblastomas, being highly glycolytic malignancies strongly pH-dependent driven by sodium hydrogen exchanger 1 (NHE1) other proton (H+) transporters. Therefore, those pathologies where lessons recently learnt from new pH-centered anticancer paradigm may soon bring promising change to treatment. This contribution will discuss how pH-centric molecular, biochemical metabolic perspective introduce some urgently needed integral novel treatments. Such prospective therapeutic approach for malignant brain developed here, either be used alone or combination more standard therapies.
