摘要: Background: The obese Zucker diabetic fatty male rat (ZDF:Gmi™-fa) is an animal model of type II diabetes associated with obesity and related metabolic disturbances like dyslipidaemia nephropathy. In addition, has been linked to vascular glomerular damage too. Dietary fat restriction a current strategy tackle and, telmisartan, as renoprotective agent, may mediate cholesterol efflux by activating PPARγ. To test the hypothesis that both therapeutical alternatives influence nephropathy in ZDF rat, we studied their effect on development diabetes. Methods: Male Diabetic Fatty (ZDF) rats received low-calorie diet, vehicle or telmisartan for 9 weeks. Blood samples were obtained analyses lipids lipoproteins, LDL-oxidisability, HDL structural functional properties. Urinalysis was carried out estimate albumin loss. At end experimental period, sacrificed, liver extracted APOA1 mRNA quantified. Results: Results indicated diet can slower onset overt hyperglycaemia renal assessed albuminuria. Both interventions decreased oxidative susceptibility LDL hepatic expression but only dietary lowered hyperlipidaemia. Conclusion: Either pharmacologic have important beneficial effects terms progression albuminuria
