Performance of the Tourniquet Test for Diagnosing Dengue in Peru

摘要: The tourniquet test (TT) is a physical examination maneuver often performed on patients suspected of having dengue. It has been incorporated into dengue diagnostic guidelines and used in clinical studies. However, little known about TT performance characteristics different patient types or epidemiologic conditions. In the dengue-endemic city Iquitos, Peru, we TTs laboratory assays 13,548 persons with febrile disease, recruited through either active (n = 1,095) passive 12,453) surveillance. sensitivity was 52% 56%, specificity 58% 68%, positive predictive value 45% 55%, negative 64% 69% for enrolled surveillance, respectively. We demonstrated that more sensitive identifying disease women those younger age increased later person came to medical clinic care.
