摘要: Fast-mapping paradigms have not been used previously to examine the process of word learning in boys with fragile X syndrome (FXS), who are likely intellectual impairment, language delays, and symptoms autism. In this study, a fast-mapping task was investigate associative 4- 10-year-old FXS relative younger typically developing age-matched autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Task performance exceeded chance levels for all groups; however, outperformed ASD, despite having lower nonverbal cognition. Memory demands significantly impacted only typical development. For or uniquely accounted small but significant variance concurrent vocabulary comprehension as did chronological age IQ, severity. Understanding has implications designing interventions support acquisition these populations.
