摘要: Leishmania spp. are digenetic parasites which cause a broad spectrum of fatal diseases in humans. These parasites, as well the other trypanosomatid, regulate gene expression at post-transcriptional and post-translational levels, so that poor correlation is observed between mRNA content translated proteins. The completion genomic sequencing several species has enormous relevance to study leishmaniasis pathogenesis. combination available resources these with powerful high-throughput proteomic analysis shed light on various aspects biology mechanisms underlying disease. Diverse approaches have been used describe catalogue global protein profiles spp., reveal changes during development, determine subcellular localization products, evaluate host-parasite interactions elucidate drug resistance mechanisms. characterization proteins advanced, although many fundamental questions remain unanswered. Here, we present historic review summarizing different technologies applied last decades discuss discoveries contributed understanding leishmaniasis.
