摘要: During the last years, mass spectrometry has revolutionised protein biochemistry and advanced to a superior tool for identification detailed analysis of peptides proteins. The high throughput allowed by some platforms enabled important step from individual proteins proteomics. Recently, an additional field applications emerged - namely screening diagnostic research. In contrast identification, have detect analyte molecules defined molecular weights which can be calculated beforehand, example means chemical structures. Here, accuracy sensitivity combined with requirements high-throughput analyses, in particular speed automation. These criteria are especially fulfilled state art matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF MS) instruments. first (HTS) application proved genotyping single nucleotide polymorphisms. same principle was later applied several quality control issues, oligonucleotides, peptide or compound libraries. This development culminated profiling complex biomarker patterns clinical proteomics fingerprint specific diseases biological samples. Thus, based methods expected enable very early diagnosis minimally invasive investigation. type end potential revolutionise many diseases. we give overview fields
