摘要: The collared peccary Tayassu tajacu, a gregarious mammal in the order Artiodactyla, belongs to family Tayassuidae with white-lipped T. pecari and recently discovered Chacoan Catagonus wagneria. Distribution of three extant members this unique ungulates overlaps throughout considerable portion their South American range. Collared peccaries are found diverse habitats from southwestern United States northern regions Argentina. comprise an important source protein for subsistence among Indians harvested routinely by sport commercial interests (Bodmer et al. 1988; Vickers 1988).
