摘要: Molecular analysis of multistage carcinogenesis in patients is mainly hampered by the inavailability biopsies from early tumor stages. In contrast, mouse models development offer means to reproducibly isolate different stages progression, which then are amenable pathological, genetic, and biochemical analyses. Moreover, cell lines derived useful tools experimentally addressing many cancer-related questions. Finally, genetic modulation gene function overexpression transgenic mice (gain function) or ablation knock-out (loss provide opportunity determine whether observed changes cause consequence development. Hence, murine have been instrumental identifying genes unraveling their causal role carcinogenesis.
