摘要: The health consequences of mild copper excess in humans are unknown. In a previous study, 2 mo supplementation with up to 6 mg Cu/L drinking water did not induce detectable changes. Here we assessed supplement at the upper level dietary recommendations for "healthy" adults. study was prospective controlled trial; participants (women and men, 18-50 y old), represented lower 5% ceruloplasmin distribution curve obtained from community-based sample 800 healthy adults (n = 41/group, each approximately 50% men). Individuals received single daily dose 10 Cu 60 d. Before after supplementation, blood [copper, protein, homocysteine, liver aminotranferases, Cu-Zn -superoxide dismutase activity erythrocytes (eSOD), glutathione peripheral mononuclear cells] urine [copper excretion 5-h administration chelator 2,3-dimercapto-1-propano-sodium sulfonate (DMPS)] analyses were performed. After mo, enzyme activities remained below clinical cutoff value used diagnose dysfunction, but had increased significantly both groups genders. These increases no longer present 12 loading period completed. Glutathione cells (mmol/g protein) also 2-mo genders (P 0.01). eSOD activity, serum homocysteine concentration, urinary 5 h DMPS affected. We conclude that administered as described induced transient, mild, significant elevation aminotransferases.
