Patient-centred care to improve dietetic practice: an integrative review

摘要: Background Patient-centred care (PCC) is associated with significant improvements in patients’ health outcomes and healthcare systems. There an opportunity to better understand PCC dietetics. Thus, the present integrative review aims critically synthesise literature relating dietetics. Methods A systematic search was conducted between February March 2016. Studies were included if they (i) involved dietitians and/or patients who had participated individual dietetic consultation; (ii) related one or more components of PCC; (iii) empirical full-text studies English, involving adult participants, published 1997 Following title abstract screening, full texts retrieved independently assessed for inclusion by two investigators. Two independent investigators data extraction quality assessment using Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Study findings analysed thematically meta-synthesis. Twenty-seven met criteria. Results Six themes discovered inductively: establishing a positive dietitian–patient relationship; displaying humanistic behaviours; effective communication skills; (iv) individualising adapting care; (v) redistributing power patient; (vi) lacking time practices. The first three closely related. used broad range methodological designs. Limitations lack reflexivity representativeness study population. Conclusions It apparent that require good skills qualities build relationships patients. Patients strongly desire individualised nutrition greater involvement care.
