Treatment of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) with ultrasonic piezoelectric bone surgery. A case series of 20 treated sites

摘要: There is no consensus on how to successfully treat medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ). We report here application piezoelectric bone surgery MRONJ in combination with antibiotherapy and its possible benefit. A cohort 18 consecutive patients has been treated for MRONJ; they involved 20 sites, 15 mandible, five maxilla. Surgical removal necrotic areas debridement was performed a powerful device (max 90 W) antibiotherapy. All healed obtained complete soft tissue closure within 1 month. No recurrence symptoms observed during present follow-up (10–54 months). hypothesize that healing all sites might have resulted from synergic effect ablation, biofilm alteration, antibiotic administration. Biofilm alteration permitted better access antibiotics germs. These encouraging results warrant further studies use ultrasonic order confirm or refute hypothesized effect.
