Astrocyte Elevated Gene-1 as a Novel Therapeutic Target in Malignant Gliomas and Its Interactions with Oncogenes and Tumor Suppressor Genes

摘要: Astrocyte elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) is an oncogene and a critical signaling molecule that has wide variety of interactions with other oncogenes tumor suppressor genes, leading to increasing malignant properties gliomas, such as invasion, angiogenesis, metastasis, chemoresistance. Its overexpression enhanced by many factors exposure the cells human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), HIV-1 envelop glycoprotein 120, hypoxia, or glucose deprivation. Thorough understanding these along AEG-1 inducers repressors important in setting successful treatment plan targeting this oncogene. Since its discovery 2002, made significant impact improving our mechanism tumors progression, breast carcinomas, melanoma, gliomas. Therefore, it been novel therapeutic target for past two decades. Herein, we focus on role gliomas interaction molecules.
