摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the process involved in biotransformation of chemicals into reactive metabolites and highlights how these damage macromolecules, notably DNA. During past 15 years, aim many studies has been to establish potential relations that exist between biotransformation, repair development cancer when human beings are exposed environmental pollutants. Relation exposure men or women pollutants birth defects infertility is also pointed out. The formation DNA adducts believed be an essential step carcinogenic process. It established for a number carcinogens persistent more closely related potency than non-persistent adducts. frequently used as biomarkers either electrophilic metabolised electrophiles. readily possible experimental systems with known duration, but it much complex issue molecular epidemiological studies. Lower adduct level observed tumoural part could explained by rapid proliferation cells inducing dilution, disappearance due accurate not repair. significance persistence discussed chapter.
