摘要: Gene suppression via RNA interference (RNAi) provides an alternative strategy for insect pest management. The ingestion by insects of double-stranded RNAs targeting essential genes can trigger RNAi and lead to growth inhibition, developmental aberrations, reduced fecundity, mortality. This response is particularly acute in certain coleopteran species, most notably the western corn rootworm, a devastating impacting production United States. development next-generation rootworm-protected hybrids includes RNAi-based trait that mode action distinct from those Bacillus thuringiensis insecticidal protein-based traits currently used rootworm Unfortunately, many species including important lepidoptera hemiptera pests appear largely recalcitrant their environmental RNA, suggesting biological barriers thus far limit utility agricultural review will highlight recent efforts understand delivery describe advances commercial insect-protected crops insecticides utilizing RNAi, discuss this context integrated management approach.
