摘要: Interactions of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) with bone marrow stroma, mediated by adhesion molecules, are assumed to be critically important the regulation hematopoiesis. However, specific roles individual molecules involved in these interactions poorly understood. Here, a monoclonal antibody, MEM-59, recognizing CD43, an molecule highly expressed on HPC, is shown induce apoptosis this cell population. This process operates at single-cell level, and its initiation requires crosslinking surface CD43 presence cytokines. In contrast more differentiated originating from primitive population, as well peripheral lymphocytes, do not undergo response CD43-mediated stimulation. Thus, may function negative regulator early events, delivering signal for HPC.
