摘要: Based on finding a strong association between number of impairments and risk falling in earlier studies, Yale FICSIT investigators are conducting an intervention trial comparing the effectiveness usual care plus social visits (SV) targeted abatement (TI) strategy reducing falls among at community elderly persons. Subjects include members participating HMO who > or = 70 years age, cognitively intact, not terminally ill, too physically active, possess least one fall factor. The factors postural hypotension; sedative use; four medications; upper lower extremity strength range motion impairments; foot problems; balance, gait, transfer dysfunctions. interventions medication adjustments, behavioral change recommendations, education training, home-based exercise regimens targeting identified factors. carried out by study nurse practitioner physical therapist TI subjects' homes. SV subjects receive comparable home as during which structured life review is performed work students. primary outcome occurrence 12-month followup. Secondary outcomes mobility performance fall-related efficacy.
