摘要: Use of the Boston Keratoprosthesis (B-KPro) has grown significantly, both in United States and overseas over course last decade. It is most frequently employed keratoprosthesis for management complex corneal blindness. Improving outcomes reductions devastating complications such as melting infection have motivated this increase use. We review epidemiology pathophysiology following B-KPro well advances design postoperative care that halted occurrence melting. Eyes with autoimmune diseases Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis mucous membrane pemphigoid remain particularly vulnerable to melt, leak, extrusion. The development new strategies prevent eyes disease crucial improve group patients, they are often those desperate need visual rehabilitation a B-KPro.
