Skin test suppression by antihistamines and the development of subsensitivity

摘要: The suppression of skin test reactivity by single doses six antihistamines was measured before and after a period daily antihistamine ingestion in 18 subjects. Single hydroxyzine, 50 mg; chlorpheniramine, 16 promethazine, induced significant at 2 hr, whereas the produced tripelennamine, 100 diphenhydramine, cyproheptadine, did not differ significantly from that placebo. After 3 wk treatment with 75 mg per day, suppressive effect hydroxyzine as well five clinically unrelated reduced. Although response to chlorpheniramine also reduced chronic 24 difference statistically significant. We conclude used greatly their on reactivity. producing most suppression, when it taken for wk, caused development partial tolerance only its own but those antihistamines.
