摘要: We compared and contrasted intracranial (i.c.) subcutaneous (s.c.) heterotransplantation of small-cell carcinoma the lung (SCCL) into athymic nude mice. Fresh human SCCL tumor specimens, colonies grown in soft agarose continuous cell lines were used. Tumors induced by three types specimens similar, but s.c. i.c. transplants differed. S.c. tumors had longer latent times, non-invasive non-lethal. I.c. has shorter periods, invariably grew meninges, frequently invaded destroyed underlying brain, lethal. The tumor-inducing dose for transplantation was 10 to 1,000 times lower than transplantation. Pooled inoculated While they contained relatively small numbers cells (400-10,000), 83% these colony after 58-243 days, confirming "stem-cell" origin colonies. retained characteristic morphology SCCL, and, with one exception, did not metastasize distant organs. Continuous could be established readily from both transplants, cytology, growth biochemical properties original tumors. is a useful tool, especially when are available, may provide model study biology therapy meningeal carcinomatosis.
