Preliminary investigation of the phage φX174 crystal structure

摘要: Abstract Crystals of the single-stranded DNA bacteriophage φX174 have been grown. They a monoclinic unit cell with space group P 2 1 , dimensions = 306.0 (±0.2) A b 361.1 c 299.7 (±0.2°) β 92.91° (±0.02°) and diffract to at least 2.7 resolution. There are two virus particles per cell. Packing considerations show that mean diameter is 280 A. The separates into bands in sucrose gradient. ratio between absorbance 260 nm 1.45 1.65 for faster 1.15 1.35 slower bands, but both contain intact particles. derived from these isomorphous there no detectable difference their structure amplitudes.
