摘要: The sex pheromone for Anomala octiescostata has been previously identified as a 4:1 mixture of (R)-buibuilactone and (R)-japonilure. Field experiments showed that although not active per se, the secondary component increased activity major component, buibuilactone. enantiomers these semiochemicals, i.e., (S)-buibuilactone (S)-japonilure are neither attractants nor behavioral antagonists to system A. octiescostata. Chiral GC-EAD demonstrated that, in marked contrast Japanese beetle Osaka beetle, which can detect stereoisomer produced by their conspecific females, male antennae lack olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs) tuned (S)-buibuilactone. same enantiomeric anosmia (inability smell compound) was also observed cuprea antennae. Both Y-olfactometer field experiments, it clarified antagonist cuprea. Contrary both cuprea, ORNs nonnatural (S)-buibuilactone, fragrance evaluation skilled perfumers revealed human nose discriminate (both intensity quality) enantiomerically pure samples (R)- japonilure.
