摘要: Objective: The regulation of IGF-I levels is complex and not only dependent on GH status, as the diagnostic sensitivity serum for deficiency (GHD) in adults low. Other GH-related parameters have so far proven to be additional value GHD adults. In present study we evaluated impact gender androgen status a population adult hypopituitary patients age- gender-matched healthy subjects. Design: A cross-sectional study. Subjects: Fifty-nine (40 males, mean age 39.3 6 1.7 (S.E.M.) years, 19 females, 41.9 2.6 years) 69 subjects (42 36.7 1.5 27 38.9 2.1 years). Results: were low (91 7 vs 173 mg/l, P < 0.001), lower female than male (68 10 100 8 o 0.03). control group there was no gender-related difference (males: 178 8, females: 164 12 0.23). IGF-II IGF-binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) also decreased without any differences. GH-binding protein (GHBP) increased patient group. (%) IGF-I, IGF-I/GHBP, IGF-I/IGFBP-3, combination plus (both or one normal low), higher (IGF-I: 57.8 22.0, 0.0001; IGF-I/GHBP: 84.2 48.8, 0.002; IGF-I/IGFBP-3: 36.8 7.3 0.001; + IGF-II: 77.8 52.6, Po 0.01). Testosterone reduced compared with controls (0.5 0.3 0.2 nmol/l, 0.001). Forward regression analyses revealed that IGFBP-3 significant predictor both combined analysis controls, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) level main contributor an explanatory variable. Gender prolactin predicted patients, whereas SHBG estradiol predictors Conclusion: (i) Levels IGF-I/IGFBP-3 IGF-I/GHBP ratios are females patients. (ii) has high GHD, particular women. (iii) We hypothesize among causally related very observed females.
